WHAT IS REIKI?
This ancient Eastern hands-on modality begins in the 1800's by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan when he brought Reiki to the West. However, there is evidence that Reiki can be traced further back to much earlier times, used by different cultures. This safe and non-invasive technique which is offered by the client lying on the massage table or chair, fully clothed. The practitioner transfers the energy via the hands to the person. Reiki is the natural energy of the universe that can be transferred to restore the body. Reiki works on all levels, physical, emotional and spiritual. It can be particularly beneficial for soothing and calming our busy minds to allow stress and tension to be released on a physical level.
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
This gentle modality can be traced back to ancient times in China and Egypt. Wall paintings have been discovered, thought to be dated back to 2330BC, discovered in a tomb, depicting two physicians using, what is known today as Reflexology. However, in 1913 it was introduced to the West by Dr Fitzgerald, an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist, where it gained in popularity. Reflexology is based on the principle that the anatomy of the body is reflected in the feet and hands. Pressure is applied by the thumbs and fingers to certain reflex points on the feet, whilst the person lies on the massage table or sits in a chair. This natural and safe modality can create relaxation and balances the energy systems.
Why See a Counsellor?
There are many ways of helping people change, but counselling involves a special way that can facilitate change so that the person being helped can feel better and discover new ways of looking at situations with a different perspective. Most people in their lives will, at some stage encounter physical or emotional crises. It is at times like these that they may seek someone they can trust to share there problem with.
